Russian nuclear strike on Ukraine would be attack on NATO – Senator Graham
US Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Republican Party, commented on Russian ex-president Dmitry Medvedev’s threats to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine if the counter-offensive succeeds
US Senator Lindsey Graham wrote about this on Twitter.
"To my Russian friends who talk about using nuclear weapons in Ukraine: You need to understand that would be an attack on NATO itself, given Ukraine’s proximity to NATO territory.
Time to sober up, realize that your barbaric invasion of Ukraine is not working, withdraw and save many young Russians from a pointless death," Graham tweeted.
On July 30, Russia’s former president and now Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev threatened to use nuclear weapons if the Ukrainian counter-offensive succeeded.
"If we imagine that the offensive of the UkroBandera forces with the support of NATO succeeded and they took away part of our land, then we would have to use nuclear weapons in accordance with the rules of the Russian Presidential Decree of 02.06.2020. There is simply no other way out," Dmitry Medvedev said in his post.
Medvedev regularly resorts to nuclear blackmail. In February, he threatened the apocalypse and the destruction of civilization, and in April he said that the world was on the brink of nuclear war. He also threatened to launch missile attacks on the International Criminal Court building, the Bundestag, and assassinate the presidents of Ukraine and Poland.
In early July, he reiterated that a "nuclear apocalypse" was not only possible but also quite likely, "because our opponents have decided to really defeat the largest nuclear power - Russia".
