Russian Foreign Ministry threatens to destroy US civilian infrastructure in space
The civilian infrastructure in space that the US and its allies use in Ukraine could be under Russian attack
Deputy Director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry Konstantin Vorontsov said this on February 16 at a roundtable discussion at the Federation Council on the militarization of space, Russian media report.
“At specialized international platforms, we also draw attention to an extremely dangerous trend that goes beyond the usual use of space technologies, which was clearly manifested during the events in Ukraine, for military purposes,” he said.
“We point out that such activities are essentially indirect participation in armed conflicts,” the Russian official added.
He emphasized that this infrastructure could become “a legitimate target for a retaliatory strike.”
Obviously, this is about Starlink. Earlier, Ukraine agreed with the American Space Exploration Technologies Corp. company to supply more than 10,000 Starlink satellite communication terminals.
