Russian Children's Ombudsman adopts Ukrainian child illegally, even under Russian laws - lawyer
The "adoption" of a Ukrainian child by Russian Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova was illegal under the Russian Family Code because he was a Ukrainian citizen.
This was stated by the lawyer of the Regional Human Rights Center Kateryna Rashevska on Espreso.
"The adoption of the Ukrainian boy Philip by the Children's Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova was illegal even according to the Russian Family Code, because he was a citizen of Ukraine at the time of adoption. He received a Russian passport only in September, and the adoption took place in July,” she stressed.
According to the lawyer, there is not only a violation of Ukrainian legislation, international law, but also Russian relevant legislation.
"She has already said so much that there can be no doubt about the intentions with which she is doing it. We believe that Lvova-Belova was appointed by Putin in October 2021 to transfer Ukrainian children to Russian families to Russify them. This policy is similar to the Nazi policy during World War II," Rashevska concluded.
