Russian authorities have convinced people that their greatness is in right to destroy their neighbors - analyst Burkovskyi
The Kremlin has managed to convince Russians that they are some kind of exceptional nation that has the right to rob, maim, kill, and rape neighboring nations
Petro Burkovskyi, Executive Director of the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The Russian authorities managed to deprive the initiative or demotivate the vast majority of the population. They managed to convince Russians that they are some kind of exceptional nation that has the right to rob, maim, kill, and rape neighboring nations. And that the greatness of the Russian people lies in this right-the ability to destroy their neighbors. Russians are proud of this now," he said.
Burkovskyi emphasized that the Russian leader had discouraged people from resisting the authorities and trying to change the government in Russia in the previous years.
"Most Russians simply do not see an alternative. The Russian authorities have done everything for this - they have killed, imprisoned opposition leaders, and forced them abroad. During the mobilization, many active people fled the country. There are no grounds for an uprising, although there is the fact that they mobilize hundreds of thousands of people and then leave them to their fate at the front. If these people survive and return to Russia, I would not rule out that many of them will want to join the Freedom of Russia Legion or the Russian Volunteer Corps and take revenge on the authorities for the misery they have experienced in Ukraine," the analyst concluded.
