Russian armed aggression has affected lives of 1.7 billion people
Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Ukrainian parliament to PACE Maria Mezentseva says that Russian armed aggression has caused damage and affected the lives of 1.7 billion people on the planet
The Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Ukrainian parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe made the statement at a media briefing.
"According to UN statistics, Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine has caused damage and affected the lives of citizens of more than 90 countries around the world and 1.7 billion people on our planet. This is also true for the topics discussed on the sidelines of the Summit, including food security, energy system, and changes in energy supply," she emphasized.
Also, referring to the World Bank's data, Maria Mezentseva noted that the calculation of losses from a full-scale Russian invasion amounting to 350 billion is an underestimate.
"We know that 350 billion in losses is a slightly underestimated figure by the World Bank. The figure provided by Ukraine is much higher. But an interesting conclusion of the Davos Forum was that if Ukraine is not helped right now in the supply of significant military equipment, in the economic sphere, to support further sanctions, to launch compensation mechanisms and to create a special tribunal for the crime of aggression, all costs will have a much higher price if our partners postpone such decisive steps and such assistance," said the Ukrainian official, while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to KSE, as of November 2022, Ukrainian infrastructure alone suffered losses of more than USD 135.9 billion as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion.
