Russia causes health crisis in Mariupol, cholera threat and sewage contamination - city council
Dmytro Zabavin, a Mariupol city council member, notes that Russia uses septic systems instead of central sewage, leading to waste spilling onto the streets and into the Sea of Azov
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Mariupol residents are surviving in these difficult conditions. Indeed, it is true that a cholera vibrio was found. Given the current sanitary and epidemiological situation in Mariupol, the entire city is now filled with sewage. Recently, Mariupol residents published that even in the much-hyped new buildings of the so-called Nevsky residential complex, excuse me, all those residential complexes were flooded with Russian shit once again, so it's not the first time. Accordingly, all this sewage is flowing through the streets of Mariupol and then into the sea and rivers. Do you understand the situation with infectious diseases there?" the city council deputy said.
According to him, Russia keeps hidden statistics on the situation but does not publish this information. However, the situation is catastrophic.
"Imagine, the occupiers use a regular septic tank (local sewage treatment plant - ed.) instead of the central sewage system, collectors, and then everything ends up on the streets of the city. This poses a danger of spreading infectious diseases. As for the beaches in Mariupol, since the beginning of summer there has been information that the beaches are closed, but there are isolated cases. The situation is such that the sea water does not meet any standards that can be met, because not only sewage goes into the Sea of Azov, but the occupiers also pollute the sea with various wastes. And those Russians who are probably used to complete unsanitary conditions are talking about the beach season," summarized Dmytro Zabavin.
- Earlier, journalist Mykola Osychenko said that there are almost no people in Mariupol, and Russia is doing nothing to restore the city.
