Ukraine aims to hold second Peace Summit by late 2024
Ukraine wants to hold the second Peace Summit by the end of 2024, as the process should not be delayed
Deputy Head of the President's Office Ihor Zhovkva said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"Ukraine, more than anyone else, desires peace as soon as possible. However, we do not seek peace based on what Russia considers reality," he said.
Zhovkva highlighted that the timing of the second summit would depend on the progress of thematic groups developing aspects of the "peace formula," as well as the upcoming US elections.
"The president has expressed that the second Peace Summit will be held not in years, but in months," he emphasized.
Regarding the summit's location, Zhovkva indicated that potential countries are being considered.
"We have identified several potential host countries, with a strong likelihood that the Summit could occur in a country from the Global South. This would be a logical progression, following the first Summit held in neutral Switzerland," he explained.
The exact country will be determined as the process unfolds.
- Antigua and Barbuda is the first country that didn’t attend the Global Peace Summit but has now signed the final communiqué.
- Following the second plenary of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland on June 16, a joint communique was signed by 78 countries and 4 international organizations.
