Russia detains over 23,000 Ukrainians in temporary centers in remote regions
Russia has forcibly relocated over 23,000 Ukrainians, including 6,127 children, to temporary accommodations in various regions under the guise of evacuation
The National Resistance Center reported the information.
Ukrainians are reportedly being taken primarily to the most remote regions of Russia.
According to the National Resistance Center, the Russians show little concern for safety and comfort. Their main objective appears to be the assimilation of as many Ukrainians as possible into Russian society, using them as cheap yet reliable labor.
The National Resistance Center also reports that the Kremlin plans to increase the number of temporary accommodation centers in Russia from 314 to over 400 in the near future. A corresponding allocation has been made in the federal budget for this purpose.
“The blatant crime of the Putin regime in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is the transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia. One notable example is that Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, along with the Russian-installed authorities, took four children from the Oleshky boarding school for children with special needs, located in the Kherson region, to Penza (Russian city 625 kilometers southeast of Moscow - ed.),” the National Resistance Center added.
International law prohibits the transfer of individuals from occupied territories, regardless of their age or health status. Therefore, the forced transfer of civilians without just cause may be considered a war crime and, in some instances, a crime against humanity.
- On September 28, three children aged 13 to 17 were returned to Ukrainian territory after being illegally deported by Russia at the start of the invasion.
