Ukraine recovers three children taken to Skadovsk and Russia from occupied territories
On September 28, three children aged 13 to 17 were returned to Ukrainian territory after being illegally deported by Russia at the start of the invasion
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported the information.
“The horrors of occupation are over for three more children from Kherson region. The boys, aged 13 to 17, have been returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine,” he wrote on Telegram.
Among the returned children are two with special needs who were previously raised in the Oleshky orphanage before the full-scale invasion. They had been taken to Skadovsk and then into Russia.
According to Prokudin, the children were returned thanks to the efforts of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. They are now safe and receiving medical and psychological assistance.
The head of the Regional Military Administration also said that since the beginning of 2024, 206 children from the Kherson region have been returned to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.
- Russia has begun to compile lists of children from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories to deport them to Russia. These lists primarily include children deprived of parental care or orphans.
