Putin claims West is "pushing Russia toward red lines," says Moscow "cannot help but respond"
Russian leader Vladimir Putin claims the West is allegedly pushing Moscow to the "red line," forcing Russia to "respond." He also insists that the Kremlin is "not rattling nuclear weapons"
As reported by the state-run RIA Novosti, Putin made these comments during a meeting with the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The United States continues to arm and finance the Kyiv regime. The West is pushing Russia to the red line, and Moscow cannot help but respond," the dictator stated.
He further added that Moscow is "not rattling nuclear weapons," accusing the West of spreading "mythical statements" to scare people into believing Russia plans an attack.
According to Putin, Russia is "forced to take additional security measures," which it is doing "carefully and thoughtfully."
The dictator also declared, "Russia will lift voluntary restrictions on the deployment of INF (medium-range and short-range missiles) if the United States starts deploying such systems."
- On December 10, Putin announced that Russia would not revise its nuclear doctrine but would work on improving the Oreshnik complex.
