Western war-end scenarios may not include 1991 borders, Ukraine should promote its own, have backup proposals - political analyst Reiterovych
Ihor Reiterovych, Head of Political and Legal Programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development, emphasizes the importance of Ukraine's understanding of various scenarios considered by its partners, including those that do not involve a return to the 1991 borders
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"We have to understand one simple thing: countries that are our partners are considering different scenarios, they have at least three scenarios on the table - optimal, pessimistic and more or less realistic. And one of these scenarios, does not involve going back to the 1991 borders. An important clarification: as of today, the scenarios that Ukraine is currently promoting - the Ukrainian Peace Formula, return to the borders, etc. - is at the top of this pile, but it may be that it ends up below or at the bottom," the expert believes.
Reiterovych added that Ukrainians should understand this and do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine's scenario for ending this war is a priority for Western partners.
"They are considering different options - it's not a secret. We should also have a few backup options, just in case, not in terms of promoting them, no, we should have one that is absolutely right, it should be the key one. But if events develop, for example, in a context that is not very positive for us, we must have some backup options, and these options must be offered by Ukraine, so that we are not shown a scenario and told that we will move forward with it, and if you do not want to, then you will continue on your own. We need to be the initiators and implementers of certain initiatives," summarized the head of political and legal programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development.
