Drone attack on Russia's Ust-Luga seaport: Ukraine may be involved
On the night of January 4, drones operated by Ukraine's Security Service attacked Russia's largest maritime commercial port, Ust-Luga, in the Leningrad region
Ukrainska Pravda, Babel, and Suspilne media reported this, citing their own sources in the security services.
On January 4, long-range Ukrainian drones traveled over 900 kilometers, reaching near St. Petersburg, and successfully hit their target.
Footage from Russian social media shows one of the drones striking a gas condensate storage tank.
"As a result of the strike, one tank was heavily damaged, while three neighboring tanks were hit by fragments from the explosion. Experts say that repairs will take at least a month, provided materials are available, and will undoubtedly disrupt the terminal's operations," the source stated.
Background: The Ust-Luga terminal is a major Russian logistics hub in the Baltic Sea. Russia uses it to sell oil and gas via a "shadow fleet.”
