Military expert about new Russian army for war in Ukraine: "It might be more effective"
Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that Russia's creation of the 51st Army indicates an improvement in the efficiency of managing new large-scale formations
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
"If Ukrainian military spokespersons are already operating with the fact that somewhere there are the first brigades that are part of this army, we must assume that the 51st Army exists. The Russian forces are ramping up their efforts and have already established the core elements such as headquarters and logistics structures, along with the first couple of motorized rifle brigades. Over time they will add more meat (personnel), because they need to fill it with manpower and equipment and then throw it into battle," Kyrychevskyi explained.
According to him, in Russian realities, this army as an operational and strategic grouping of troops may not be as large as we think.
"A combined arms army is already 30-50 thousand, or even less, united, for example, in one or two divisions, several brigades. The other problem is that it turns out that when the Russians create armies, a form of grouping of troops, they provide themselves with better control on the battlefield. The problem is not that Russia is creating a mass of people for “meat assaults”, but that it is competing to manage its troops more effectively. This is a very significant danger. The danger is not only that the Russians have mass of people, but that they will try to use this mass of people more effectively than before," the military expert summarized.
