EU allocates new tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for €1.5 billion
On Wednesday, April 24, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announces another tranche of macro-financial assistance worth €1.5 billion from a large €50 billion support package
She wrote about this on the social network X.
“Ukraine is carrying a heavy burden on its shoulders for all of us. Today, we disburse an additional €1.5 bn, under the €50 bn Ukraine Facility,” the statement said.
Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the allocation of aid is “This is vital to keep Ukraine's state & services running, while it fights back the aggressor.”
“Europe remains united and resolute,” emphasized the President of the European Commission.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the government will use the second tranche of funding from the EU under the Ukraine Facility program to cover the most important budget expenditures.
He thanked the European Commission for its positive assessment of the five indicators, which is a prerequisite for the allocation of funds.
“We expect the third tranche of EUR 1.89 billion to be disbursed soon. In total, we expect EUR 16 billion to be disbursed under the Ukraine Facility program this year,” Shmyhal emphasized.
- The European Commission transferred EUR 4.5 billion to Ukraine on March 20. This is the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the large support package totaling EUR 50 billion.
