What is main goal of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure: expert tells
Defense Express development director Valerii Riabykh explained that Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine's energy infrastructure to reduce Kyiv's ability to produce weapons
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"Today, Russian invaders are using the window of opportunity they have. Especially amid the unresolved issue of supplying the necessary operational stocks of weapons for the Armed Forces. In particular, ammunition, missiles and weapons for air defence systems. That is why the Russians have now intensified shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This is their strategic goal. In this way, they are trying to reduce Ukraine's ability to produce and manufacture a wide range of weapons. In particular, long-range UAVs, which are already actively flying deep into the territory of the Russian Federation," Riabykh explained.
According to the expert, Ukraine continues to increase its capacity to produce weapons and ammunition.
"The invaders are also trying to complicate the production of ammunition. According to the latest data, we can produce more than 1 million rounds of ammunition per year. That is why the occupiers are trying to destroy and damage Ukraine's energy infrastructure," he added.
- Since the start of 2024, Russian forces have launched over 180 attacks on Kyiv, employing hypersonic, cruise, ballistic missiles, and drones.
