China is indifferent to outcome of war - diplomat Lytvyn
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to China (1999-2001), co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council, Ihor Lytvyn, believes that China is not interested in Russia's war against Ukraine
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"China is not interested in this war because it prevents it from pursuing its global economic expansion. China has invested heavily in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative since 2013. Now it's all coming to a halt, with supply chains broken and inoperative. Production facilities are being put on hold, and this is not profitable for the Chinese," Lytvyn said.
According to the diplomat, China does not care how this conflict ends. This is how the Chinese call Russia's war against Ukraine.
"Either it will be the territories that Moscow now sees as a reality, saying that it is theirs. Or it will be the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, that is, China does not care. The main thing is that the war stops. That's why the Chinese say that China is a global player with a global peacekeeping mission and wants negotiations to begin. But they do not give conditions for these negotiations, their plan does not say anything about the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine," Lytvyn stressed.
