Russian delegation arrives in North Korea to discuss bilateral ties
On Tuesday, May 21, it became known that the delegation of the Russian Federation Council in Pyongyang began its five-day working visit to North Korea to build bilateral ties between the countries
Yonhap writes about this with reference to the state media of the DPRK.
It is noted that the delegation is headed by 80-year-old Grigory Rapota, a member of the Federation Council and a member of the Committee on International Affairs.
The Russian Embassy in the DPRK reported that the delegation arrived on Monday and will stay in Pyongyang until Friday. During this time, the parties plan to discuss issues of cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries and outline plans for future contacts.
Yonhap notes that the visit of the Russian Federation's Council of Federation delegation comes at a time when North Korea and Russia are actively expanding cooperation in a number of areas following the summit between their leaders last September.
