Russia pretends to be ready for negotiations to influence US establishment to agree to Ukraine's occupation
Russia wants to continue pretending to be ready for negotiations and to incline American experts to the thoughts of surreding part of Ukrainian territories
Executive Director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation named after Ilko Kucheriv, Petro Burkovskyi said this on Espreso TV.
“What Peskov said that they haven't captured something there yet is a message in response to Biden's statement during Macron's visit. He said that he does not see Putin's readiness to end the war. Now Russia is saying at the propaganda level: “We will capture a little more and then we will be ready to talk with you,” he said.
According to the analyst, this is done for two purposes.
“First, the propagandists will say that the Russian Federation is ready for negotiations, but Ukraine is resisting. Voices will again be heard inside the US establishment: “Let's accept that a part of Ukraine is captured, this will satisfy Putin, and the war will be stopped.” In the public space, these claims about Russia's readiness for negotiations can be repeated again and again. The second goal is to make the expert discussion in the US say: “Let's pressure or persuade Ukraine to accept these facts and stop the war at the cost of Ukrainian lives and territories. So that a bigger war does not arise between the US and Russia,” Burkovskyi concluded.
