Russia may have attacked Kyiv on January 14 with ballistic missiles from north
The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces says that on Saturday, January 14, Russia could have launched a missile attack on Kyiv with ballistic missiles from the northern direction
Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, shared the information in a comment to Channel 24.
According to him, most likely, the missiles were launched on a ballistic trajectory.
"Most likely, these are missiles that were launched on a ballistic trajectory. From the northern direction. We cannot detect and shoot down ballistics," Ihnat said.
He clarified that the ballistic trajectory is also used by S-300 missiles, which Russia has launched to attack critical infrastructure facilities in Kharkiv.
"Although the S-300 is an anti-aircraft missile designed to hit air targets, it can be programmed to fly on a ballistic trajectory," Ihnat explained.
He noted that experts will study the debris and determine what type of missile Russia used.
"The best evidence is a missile fragment. Experts can identify these things. Then we will know what type of missile it was," Ihnat said.
