Russia loses 9 aircraft on Crimean airfield strike - Ukrainian Air Force
The Ukrainian Air Force has issued a statement saying that 9 Russian aircraft were destroyed in the August 9 strike on the airfield in Crimea
The Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces informs about this on Facebook.
"Saki! Minus nine aircraft of the occupiers," the press service commented.
During the broadcast of the telethon, the spokesman of the Air Force Command Yuriy Ignat said that the occupiers kept Su-30SM, Su-24, Il-76 and other aircraft at the Saka military airfield.
"The occupiers' planes took off from this airfield all the time. They are in the sky around Ukraine practically 24 hours a day. Without reaching Zmiinyi Island, they patrol the Black Sea constantly, only changing planes and crews. Disabling the airfield is a good thing, but if there are another dozen aircraft destroyed - this is a small victory in general," said Ignat.
In addition, Crimea has about five airfields similar to Saki.
"From the explosion that we observed in the video materials, it is clear that their ammunition warehouse was hit - the aviation weapons depot, because there was a serious detonation, which means that the warehouse was hit. Su-34, Su-24 aircraft, possibly helicopters, were hit," added the spokesman of the Armed Forces Air Force.
On August 9, in Crimea, explosions were heard in the area of the Russian airbase in Novofedorivka. On the peninsula, the evacuation of residents in the Saki district began.
Locals reported a large number of ambulances traveling to Novofedorivka from Yevpatoria. Witnesses heard a series of explosions, similar to the detonation of ammunition.
The distance from the frontline in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions to Novofedorivka in the Crimea is approximately 200 km.
