Russia is putting the last nail in its own coffin by waging war in Ukraine - diplomat Yelchenko
Volodymyr Yelchenko, diplomat and Ukraine's former permanent representative to the UN (2015-2019), says that the world has moved to have a complete lack of trust in, and disrespect for, Russia's foreign policy
He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"Russia took the first step in 2014, seizing Crimea. This was the first bell, but before that there was Georgia, and even before that there was the former Yugoslavia and also Libya, that is, the Russians tried to get in everywhere. But the way they got into Ukraine - this is not just a mistake, but this is the last nail in the Russian coffin, and this nail is driven deeper and deeper," the diplomat emphasized.
Volodymyr Yelchenko noted that the world has moved to complete misunderstanding and disrespect for Russia's foreign policy, as we can see from the reactions of the international community to Lavrov's speeches in the Council of Europe and the General Assembly. In addition, Russia is trying to play on the feelings of African countries on the issue of hunger, which seems to be Ukraine's fault for stopping the export of grain, and not Russia, which started the war and blocked the Black Sea.
"But Russia no longer has the kind of influence it had in the UN in 2019 at the expense of its agent network. However, the moment is already coming when half of those agents are thinking about whether they should continue to work for the Russian Federation as it has become today," Yelchenko noted.
