Russia is China’s lab where Xi studies life under sanctions – diplomat Lytvyn
Ihor Lytvyn, co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China (1999-2001), believes that Xi Jinping came to Russia to see how it survives under sanctions
He said this on Espreso TV.
“The Chinese leader was very interested to see how Russia survives under sanctions, when the whole world has turned away from Russia. China expects that if it continues to strive for world leadership, for world dominance, it may also face a similar situation in relations between the United States and the collective West. Xi Jinping came to a place that can be called a laboratory for China to gain the necessary experience. He studied this experience and adapted to the possible use of such experience if a similar situation arises with China,” Lytvyn emphasized.
The co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Chinese Business Council also added that Xi Jinping needed to work out the issue of Chinese corporations that could replace Western business structures that have left Russia.
“There was a statement regarding comprehensive cooperation of a strategic nature between China and Russia. Both sides noted that relations between Russia and China are not a military-political alliance, and that relations between the countries should develop a multipolar world order. The parties should work together to move closer to a multipolar world,” Lytvyn said.
