Russia intensifies offensive on Bakhmut, engaging Wagner, paratroopers - British intelligence
Russia has intensified its offensive on Bakhmut due to improved cooperation between the Russian Ministry of Defense and Wagner PMC
The British Ministry of Defense reported the information on Twitter.
"Russia has re-energised its assault on the Donetsk Oblast town of Bakhmut as forces of the Russian MoD and Wagner Group have improved co-operation," the report says.
At the same time, the Ukrainian defense, according to the ministry, is holding the western districts of the city, but they have been subjected to particularly intense artillery fire from Russia over the past 48 hours.
"Wagner assault groups continue to conduct the main advance through the centre of town, while Russian airborne forces (VDV) have relieved some Wagner units securing the northern and southern flanks of the operation," the British Ministry of Defense claims.
It also notes that Ukrainian forces are facing significant problems with resupply, but are systematically withdrawing from the positions they have been forced to give up.
