Russia has potential for national movements, but lacks charismatic democrats – Klimkin
If some criminal leads the so-called national movements in Russia, it will not be some kind of personification of democracy
Former Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said this on Espreso.
“One of the lines of tension in Russia is national movements. I am quite skeptical about what is happening in the North Caucasus, but I believe that there is definitely a potential for such movements in Siberia,” Klimkin said.
“There is considerable dissatisfaction there with the robbery of resources that are considered national. The only question is who will lead it. There are no charismatic democrats there, and there are criminal networks. If one of the criminals leads the so-called national movements or uses such real, genuine sentiments, it will not be some kind of personification of democracy. Although I don't see any prospects for the personification of any democracy in Russia at the moment,” he added.
