"Russia has been poisoning UN for many years": Kuleba on illegal Russian presence in organization
Head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Ukraine is preparing official steps to prove Russia's illegal presence in the UN Security Council
He stated this during a briefing.
"Russia has been poisoning the UN for many years - it's no secret to anyone. Just as it poisons all international organizations in which it is a member," Kuleba said.
He noted that Russia is illegally occupying the seat of UN Security Council member. According to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, it has no proper legal reasons for this: it took this position as a result of a fraudulent scheme 31 years ago.
Kuleba said that Ukraine is now preparing to take official steps that would prove the illegal presence of the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council. These steps should start a political process that would deprive Russia of this place.
"It will not be easy, it will be extremely difficult, but the time has come for frank reasoned conversation about Russia's usurpation of a place in the UN Security Council and UN in general," he added.
