Russian fake: Zelenskyy accused of buying wine estate
False reports have emerged claiming that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's family bought English musician Sting's wine estate
Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Database Italia published a false article claiming that Zelenskyy's family purchased an estate from English musician Sting for 60-75 million euros in June, allegedly citing the Italian real estate tax register.
The Center for Countering Disinformation has confirmed that the claim is false. The website Database Italia, which was the primary source of this misinformation, was listed in 2021 as a known spreader of disinformation in Italy. Additionally, Italian fact-checkers have repeatedly refuted the news published by Database Italia.
The Center also noted that this false information is part of a broader Russian disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and First Lady Olena Zelenska.
- Telegram channel Iznanka published a video with alleged data from a sociological survey by the European Commission's statistical organisation Eurostat, which states that 64% of Ukrainians do not believe in the return of Ukraine's 1991 borders.
