'Russia's participation in summits is pointless': Russian fakes for August 2
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes launched by Russian propagandists on August 2
According to the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, on August 2, Russian propagandists launched fake news and disinformation.
Disinformation: The Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that no agenda for resolving the Ukrainian issue that would suit Russia has been put forward yet, so "Russia's participation in the summits is pointless".
Rebuttal: Peskov's statement is yet another attempt to justify Russia's refusal to engage in constructive dialogue. In fact, Ukraine's leadership has repeatedly expressed its readiness for peace talks, provided that Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected.
Fake: Telegram channel Iznanka published a video with alleged data from a sociological survey by the European Commission's statistical organisation Eurostat, which states that 64% of Ukrainians do not believe in the return of Ukraine's 1991 borders.
Rebuttal: Based on the results of the initial analysis of AFP and Eurostat information sources, no such story was found.
- The Kremlin propaganda also uses former Ukrainian MP Viktor Medvedchuk again.
