Expert names main reason for Russian PSYOPs failure in Ukraine
Taras Zhovtenko, acting executive director of the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, believes that Russian information and psychological special operations against Ukraine have not had a significant impact on Ukrainian society to date
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Today, a certain part of Ukrainian society is still being led by Russian information and propaganda. However, most Ukrainians are not vulnerable to this. Because Russian propaganda and special services have not fully understood Ukrainian society. They still do not understand what democracy is," Zhovtenko explained.
The expert emphasized that the Russian special services consider the first reaction of Ukrainians to PSYOPs as the final result.
"When the Russian special services launch another PSYOP and see a bunch of angry comments, they start applauding themselves and think that they have succeeded. However, they do not realize that in democratic societies, unlike authoritarian ones, this is a common reaction. It is clear that someone may be outraged by a certain situation, but citizens can express this position openly. In Russia, however, such reactions are punishable by imprisonment. That is why Russian propaganda considers such a PSYOP to be successful. For us, it is just a reaction. That is why the failures of Russian PSYOPs are explained by this. In particular, they read the first reaction of Ukrainian citizens, which is the end of their special operation," he added.
