Russia deploys about 300 ex-convicts for assaults in Zaporizhzhia - Ukrainian Armed Forces
The spokesman for the Tavria defense forces’ press center, Oleksandr Shtupun, said that Russia plans to create assault units among former prisoners to capture Robotyne
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"As a result of the assault, Ukrainian troops have made some progress in the area of Robotyne. Over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 200-300 meters. At the same time, Russia is redeploying reserves from different directions. The invaders sent about 200 former convicts from Mariupol to Ilchenkove area in Zaporizhzhia region, and over 100 persons were transported from Luhansk to Melitopol," noted Shtupun.
According to him, the convicts are being used by Russia for so-called meat assaults.
"They are planning to create assault units to capture Robotyne. But Ukrainian soldiers are ready for any challenges in this area," emphasized Stupun.
