Russia accuses US of disrupting nuclear arms control talks
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, has said that "toxicity and hostility" of the US is the reason for the postponement of the meeting within the framework of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (new START)
Zakharova published the statement on Tuesday on her Telegram channel.
According to her, Russia decided to postpone the session of the bilateral consultative commission "at the political level, taking into account the extremely negative situation in Russian-American relations, created by Washington, which continues to steadily degrade."
"We note the highest level of toxicity and hostility in all directions on the part of Washington. Within the limits of the total hybrid war unleashed against us, almost every step of the US in relation to Russia is subordinated to the pathological desire to harm our country wherever possible," she wrote.
Zakharova claims that the American delegation has refused to discuss "Russian concerns" about the implementation of the new START, in particular regarding the US allegedly withdrawing part of its arsenal from the scope of the treaty, instead wanting to focus on the issues of renewing inspections.
