Rift between Putin and Russian army is deepening - Russian opposition politician Yakovenko
Russian opposition politician and journalist Igor Yakovenko believes Putin's regime has consolidated temporarily and it will start collapsing with more defeats in Ukraine
He shared his opinion on Espreso TV.
"An important event took place which marked a turning point in the war. But the fascist regime in Russia will not fall following the Kherson liberation, no. There are quite a lot of resources for the Russian Federation to survive as it is. We do not know what victory of the Ukrainian army will cause the Russian regime to start collapsing. But the cracks have already appeared, it is obvious. The rift between Putin and the Russian army is deepening. It is supported by the fact that Russian generals were against this war from the very beginning," Yakovenko said.
The Russian opposition politician also added that Putin forced the Russian General Staff and the army to fight this war, and now he is trying to make them responsible for defeats at the front.
"The blow delivered by Prigozhin and Kadyrov, bringing General Lapin's head to Putin on a platter, was aimed at Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov, who is already clearly out of favor and will perhaps become the next victim. Generals have no desire to be sheep to the slaughter. At a certain point, when they become completely done with Putin, they will have their say," Yakovenko emphasized.
