Putin signs decree to suspend Russia's participation in New START treaty
On February 28, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the suspension of Russia's participation in the nuclear arms reduction treaty between the US and Russia
This is reported by Russian propaganda media.
According to the document, the law comes into force from the date of official publication, and only the president can decide to resume Russia's participation in the treaty.
Reference. New START is a nuclear arms reduction treaty between the United States and the Russian Federation with the formal name of Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms. It entered into force on 5 February 2011.
This treaty provides for a reduction in deployed nuclear warheads, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, heavy bombers, and intercontinental ballistic missiles.
