Russia loses over 1,000 soldiers, 11 tanks, and 43 artillery systems in one day in Ukraine

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to April 28, 2024, amounted to:

• personnel – about 466,150 (+1,096) 
• tanks ‒ 7,279 (+11) 
• armored fighting vehicles ‒ 13,991 (+20) 
• artillery systems – 11,948 (+43) 
• MLRS – 1,050 (+1)
• air defense systems ‒ 776 (+1) 
• aircraft – 348 (+0) 
• helicopters – 325 (+0) 
• UAVs of the operational-tactical level – 9,507 (+22)
• cruise missiles ‒ 2,124 (+5)
• warships/boats ‒ 26 (+0)
• submarines – 1 (+0) 
• vehicles and fuel tanks – 16,065 (+46) 
• special equipment ‒ 1,971 (+3) 

Frontline situation

According to the General Staff, the operational situation in the northern Ukrainian border remains without significant changes.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts subversive activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 13 attacks near Kyslivka, Kopanky, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka and Novoyehorivka in the Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian army attacked the Ukrainian positions 14 times near 2 settlements in the Luhansk region and 1 more in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops rebuffed 8 attacks near 5 settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 35 attacks in the areas of 4 settlements. 

In the Novopavlivka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back Russian troops near 5 settlements, where they tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 13 times.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian troops' positions 2 times near Staromayorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Russians did not conduct any offensives. 

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupying forces, depleting them along the entire front line.

Ukrainian strikes at Russian positions 

Throughout the day, Ukraine’s Defense Forces conducted airstrikes on 16 concentrations of Russian personnel.

Ukrainian missile units successfully targeted 1 Russian control point and 2 radar stations.

Russian attacks on Ukraine 

Russian aggression against Ukraine continued with a total of 32 missile and 64 air strikes, along with 60 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian troops and civilian areas.

Overnight, Russian forces launched another assault, deploying 4 Shahed UAVs and 5 UAVs of unspecified types. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed all Shahed UAVs and one of the unidentified UAVs.

Over the past day, 28 Ukrainian settlements were hit by Russian air strikes.

Russian artillery fire targeted over 110 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.
