Putin calls armed conflict with Ukraine a “war” for the first time
Vladimir Putin said that Russia seeks the earliest possible end to the war in Ukraine, applying this definition to a "special operation" for the first time
The president of the Russian Federation stated this in a conversation with journalists from the Kremlin pool.
"Our goal is not to spin this flywheel of a military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war, we strive for it and will strive for it. We will strive for it to be finished. And the sooner, the better, of course," Putin said.
He also emphasized once again that Russia does not give up peace talks with Ukraine.
"All armed conflicts end one way or another with some kind of negotiations on the diplomatic track. And we have never refused. Leadership of Ukraine has forbidden itself to negotiate. However, sooner or later, of course, any parties in a state of conflict sit down and agree. The sooner this awareness comes to those who oppose us, the better. We have never given up on this," Putin added.
