Poland hands over 8 MiG-29s to Ukraine and plans to supply 6 more – Duda
President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that the country has already handed over 4 MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine, and 4 more are being delivered. In the near future, Poland plans to supply 6 more such aircraft
He said this when asked by an Ukrinform correspondent during a briefing with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Four MiG-29s from our warehouses have been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in recent months. Four more MiG-29s are being additionally transferred now, which means that eight have already been delivered. We are ready, and I told Mr. President (Volodymyr Zelenskyy - ed.) about this, to transfer six more, which are now being prepared," Duda said.
He also noted that Poland still has MiG-29s modernized to NATO standards, but that the country itself needs these aircraft. However, Duda said that new aircraft – South Korean FA-50s and American F-35s – are due to arrive in Poland, so the country may transfer modernized MiG-29s to Ukraine in the future.
The Polish president emphasized that the allies' consent is needed to supply these aircraft to Ukraine, as they are modernized with American parts.
