Pentagon says they did not provide Ukraine weapons for Crimea strikes
The US did not transfer weapons to Ukraine that could be used to strike the Russian-occupied peninsula.
Voice of America journalist Ostap Yarysh announced this on Twitter from a briefing at the US Department of Defense.
A Pentagon official said: "We haven't provided #Ukraine anything that would enable them to strike into Crimea. ... But other than that, this is a Ukrainian war. So they're the ones that select the target."
The Pentagon also assessed the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to counterattack. "If you're going to rate them from 0 to 10, how good you thought the Ukrainians were... I think I'd probably put them in about 12, just based on how impressive they've been to us in so many ways," the US Department of Defense said.
