Reuters reported the information.
Austin's visit to Iraq was not previously announced. The Pentagon announced a tour of the Secretary of Defense in the Middle East, during which he has already visited Jordan from March 5 to 9 and is scheduled to visit Egypt and Israel to assure the US partners’ commitment to cooperation.
According to Austin, the visit to Baghdad is aimed to show that Washington intends to maintain its military presence in Iraq 20 years after the US overthrew Saddam Hussein's regime.
