Partisans blow up railway track in Melitopol to stop Russian supply of weapons, fuel from Crimea - media
On September 17, Ukrainian partisans in Melitopol blew up the railway track that the invading Russian forces used to get weapons and fuel from Crimea
He told about this on Facebook, Espreso.West reports.
According to him, this operation seemed like madness, but it became a new proof of the genius of the Ukrainian command and soldiers.
"Of course, now everyone really wants to rejoice and admire how cool the operation went. But in order to somehow understand our state at the planning stage, imagine that the operation has not taken place yet. You have no idea how it will be carried out and you do not know all its details and nuances (because of the secrecy of those nuances)," Yaroslav Vakaliuk said.
He noted that the command explained to the soldiers what their task was: the infantry must break through the first line of enemy defense, pass through a narrow demined corridor through a mined line, and then within two or three days break through a front 20 km wide, 60 km deep to the Oskil River, turn around to the south in the direction of Izyum, and hit the enemy in the rear. At the same time, going along the route, it is necessary to avoid battles for populated areas.
"And now tell me that this is not madness. That is why, when I came to my battery and told them the plan of action, I began with the words: "The plan is shit, the chances of success are minimal, and we will all die without a doubt. What are we waiting for?" Let my immediate command not be angry with me, but I am not sure that if Zaluzhnyi had not been in charge of the operation, I would not have gone on this adventure so uncompromisingly," the soldier wrote.
"During the offensive, the artilleryman walked about 5-10 km behind the infantry. The infantrymen, on the other hand, "broke through the first ranks at a frantic pace."
"Many things were new to me in this operation. If earlier our infantry held the lines, but the main fire damage was done by artillery, then here the infantry did most of the work. In general, this operation showed: "infantry is the queen of the fields" is not an empty statement," the military man wrote.
According to him, the command planned the operation more than brilliantly. The most interesting moment, the fighter continues, for him was the awareness of the enemy. The start of the operation was postponed several times, and during the waiting time they managed to convey all the details to the Ukrainian military.
"Valerii Zaluzhnyi is unpredictable. And it is unlikely that Ukraine's Armed Forces will go on a counteroffensive in the same way - there will be something new every time"
Yaroslav notes that we often admire the American army or other NATO armies, but we must understand that they are actually rather clumsy. Whereas Ukraine's Armed Forces are something new.
"It's as if management was not taken by old generals, but by people who had previously developed the business strategies of the largest technology companies in the world. It's as if they took Musk, Bezos, Gates, Jobs, and all their top managers and offered them to create a strategy for winning the war. And they think out of the box - not like the military," he wrote.
It is worth adding that Yaroslav Vakaliuk fought in the Anti-terrorist Operation Zone, and on February 25 he went to defend Ukraine again.
