OС South explains why Russia “withdraws” from Kherson
Russian forces are trying to convince Ukraine that they are withdrawing from Kherson, but in reality they are staying in the city and equipping their positions
Nataliya Humenyuk, the spokeswoman of OC South, explained Russian plans live on United News national telethon.
"Russian forces are trying to convince us that they are withdrawing. Despite the fact that the objective data confirms they are staying. Russian defense units have entrenched themselves quite deep there. Some equipment remains, firing positions are set up. And those positions, that Russian soldiers are setting up on the left bank, will be used for fire support of the Russian units on the right bank," Humenyuk said.
She added that in this way, the Russian occupiers are trying to lure the Ukrainian Armed Forces into populated areas and force them into street battles there.
"Conducting street battles is always more difficult in populated areas. We know and anticipate the development of events that the Russians are trying to impose on us and we are drawing up our strategic plan," Humenyuk assured.
