Olaf Scholz believes Russian army losses won't stop Putin trying to occupy Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz says that Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue his efforts to seize Ukraine's territory despite the Russian army's heavy losses.
This is reported by Bild.
The publication notes that this statement was made by German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting with voters in Potsdam.
“Every time I talk to Putin, he speaks very clearly - it's about conquering something. He just wants to seize a part of Ukrainian territory by force,” Olaf Scholz emphasized.
The German chancellor believes that Vladimir Putin does not pay attention to the Russian army's personnel losses, and Scholz suggests that the number of killed among the Russian military may reach 100,000.
“We don't know exactly how many Russian servicemen are killed. But it could be as many as 100,000,” he said.
Olaf Scholz added that the Russian leadership has already demonstrated brutal behavior in the past, for example in Syria or Chechnya, where it “wiped out an entire country.”
