This is reported by the German Bild newspaper.
"Every time I talk to Putin, he speaks very clearly. It's about winning something. He just wants to seize part of the Ukrainian territory by force," the head of the German government said.
The chancellor believes that the Russian president's position is strange against the background of losses of the Russian army.
"We don't know exactly how many Russian servicemen were killed. Maybe 100 thousand," Scholz added.
The German Chancellor claimed the Russian leadership had demonstrated a brutal approach before the war in Ukraine. For example, in Syria or Chechnya, where it "wiped out an entire country."
