Trump says he may meet with Zelenskyy next week

According to the U.S. president, the meeting is likely to take place in Washington. A visit to Kyiv is not yet planned.

Trump wants to discuss with Volodymyr Zelenskyy the security of Ukrainian assets, namely rare earth elements. 

Trump also added that he is going to have a conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“I will probably be meeting with President Zelenskyy next week. I will probably be talking to President Putin. I’d like to see that war end,” Trump said.

According to the U.S. President, Russia has 800-900,000 dead or wounded military personnel and Ukraine has about 700,000.

“For what reason they are killing so many people, losing millions of people on a battlefield? I’d like this to end on human basis, it is terrible what is going on there,” he added.

• Keith Kellogg, the U.S. President's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, denied that he would present the U.S. plan to end the war at a security conference in Munich. According to him, this should be done by Donald Trump.
• Kellogg also added that Trump is ready to double sanctions against Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
