Caspian Sea drone strike: Ukraine targets Russian warships which launched missiles
Valerii Riabykh, a military expert and development director at Defense Express, noted that the Ukrainian drone, which can resemble an A-22 light aircraft, confidently reached its target in the waters of the Caspian port
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“Ukraine's defense forces have opened a new page and for the first time hit targets in the Caspian flotilla, in particular, the naval base in the Caspian Sea. The strike was effective.
A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, which may resemble the A-22 light aircraft previously used for strikes at a distance of over a thousand kilometers, confidently reached the target in the waters of the Caspian port,” emphasized Riabykh.
According to the military expert, the drone explosion could have caused damage to one or two Project 21-631 missile ships, the Tatarstan and Dagestan missile carriers. It is also known that the 177th Marine Regiment is based at this port, which could also have been the target. It was this regiment that took part in the battles and occupation actions in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
“We can hope that there will be more such attacks on the Caspian flotilla. The ships of this flotilla attacked Ukraine using Kalibr missiles from the Caspian Sea and participated in terrorist activities in the Black Sea,” noted Riabykh.
- On the morning of November 6, the Main Intelligence Directorate's 'kamikaze' drones hit a military port in the Russian city of Kaspiysk for the first time.
