New Zealand will provide $3 millions to support Ukrainians
New Zealand will allocate $3 million to support Ukrainians during wintertime. Assistance will be directed to the purchase of medical supplies, generators and other necessary items.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nanaia Mahuta stated this on December 14.
New Zealand will provide an additional $3 million through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support Ukrainians with basic humanitarian needs.
“This will cover items like medical supplies and equipment, power transformers and generators to cope with blackouts, and essential winter items for vulnerable families in Ukraine, like food, water and sanitation and hygiene items," Mahuta said.
She added that this commitment is in addition to the $7.93 million that New Zealand has already provided in support of Ukraine since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion.
In her statement, head of Foreign Ministry of New Zealand also called on Russia to "immediately stop attempts to use winter as a weapon against Ukraine."
Official Wellington has so far imposed sanctions against more than 1,200 Russian and Belarusian citizens and companies because of war against Ukraine, according to the country's foreign affairs ministry.
