New fake stories about People's Bayraktar project: "satellite is leased, and Ukrainian Armed Forces receive photos from partners"
The Center for Combating Disinformation has refuted new Russian fake stories about the "People’s Bayraktar" project and the Serhiy Prytula Foundation's purchase of a satellite for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
This was reported by the Center for Combating Disinformation in a Telegram.
The first fake is that people donated funds to "bairaktars", and they bought "some incomprehensible satellite". In fact, the company Baykar Makina will provide Ukraine with three drones for free, and the decision to purchase the satellite was made not only by the Serhiy Prytula Foundation, but also by specialists of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, in particular its head Oleksiy Reznikov, Ukrainian Security Service, intelligence - in a few steps.
It is also not true that the satellite is "rented" and not purchased. The Ukrainians bought it and will be able to use it until the end of the "life" of the satellite. In addition, the ICEYE company allowed to use a "constellation" of more than 30 of its satellites during the year.
The disinformation message is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received photos from Ukrainian partners before, and the acquisition of the satellite is allegedly an excuse for "writing off" the funds.
"Yes, we received information from the satellites of the Ukrainian Armed Forces‘ partners, but less quickly and only that which was provided to us. The question arose of the relevance and speed of the data. Learn about the targeted use of funds on the Fund's page," the Center at the NSDC emphasized.
