Negotiations possible with Russia but not with Putin after troops are withdrawn from Ukraine – Foreign Minister Kuleba
After Russian troops leave Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may agree to negotiations with Russia, but not with dictator Vladimir Putin
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said this in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
"Putin has done many very serious crimes. There are other ways to indirectly fight using diplomacy. But we know we won't see Putin and Zelenskyy talking together," he said.
"We can talk to Russia when their soldiers leave our land, but not with Putin. This can happen through war and diplomacy. Our generals focus on the first one, making Russians retreat and understand that seeking dialogue is better than fighting. I focus on diplomacy whenever possible,” he added.
He said it's hard to talk before their soldiers leave because Russians can't be trusted.
"We can't believe what Russians say, no sensible person would," he emphasized.
He said Ukraine will do everything to stop another attack in the future.

On August 9, the leader of UAE suggested a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy at the UN climate conference. Commenting on this, the State Department said Zelenskyy should decide himself if he wants to talk. "The problem always was and still is that Vladimir Putin didn't let go of his big goals, he still thinks Ukraine isn't a real country. He doesn't plan to move his soldiers from Ukraine," said State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
