Employees of the National Sanctuary Sophia of Kyiv reported about a loss from the front. On June 9, scientist Denys Borysov, who served in the Armed Forces, was killed by Russian artillery

The press service reported this.

"Burning pain and bitter sadness. It's hard to accept and believe. Denys was sincere, friendly, responsible, and many discoveries and achievements would have awaited him if not for the cruel war," the statement added.

Denys Borysov, a graduate of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy of Archeology faculty, researched the life history and everyday life of the inhabitants of the Metropolitan House of Saint Sophia Monastery.

Employees of the sanctuary say that the man participated in scientific events, helped equip the Metropolitan House, organized excursions, lectures, and exhibitions. Before Denys was summoned to the military enlistment office, he was appointed head of the St. Cyril's Monastery Museum.

In comments, his colleague Iryna Marholina mentions the man's sincerity, kindness, and warmth.

"He was young, active and enthusiastic, and he took up work in a new branch of the St. Sophia Sanctuary. However, his homeland called him to stand up for it, and he left. It's terrible that our men are dying, and when such young people die who should have done a lot of good, scientific, real things for Ukraine, it's bitter, it's unacceptable, it's tragic," Iryna wrote.

Denys' parents expressed their gratitude to the Sophia of Kyiv staff.

"We thank the entire friendly staff of the reserve for their support, for accepting Denys into their friendly family, for promoting the development of his scientific achievements, for creating comfortable working conditions, for making our pain a part of your sadness. We are grateful to the staff for their financial and moral support during Denys' military service," Vadym and Tetiana Borys wrote.

The soldier survived by his wife, and the couple had no children.
