Moscow book stores start selling new maps of Russia with 4 occupied regions of Ukraine
Moscow book stores have received maps depicting the "new subjects" of the Russian Federation: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine within their administrative boundaries
The information was reported by the Russian news agency RBC.
The Atlas Print publishing house told the news outlet that several such wall maps of Russia, Eurasia, and the world, as well as an atlas of the world, have been produced. Shipment of the maps to stores began earlier this week.
The new maps show parts of Ukraine's regions that are currently under the control of the Ukrainian government, such as the regional centers of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as part of Russia.
Earlier, retailers stopped ordering the maps amid the State Duma's discussion of a draft law on countering extremism that would equate maps that "challenge the territorial integrity of Russia" with extremist materials. The amendments provide for the prohibition of such maps and the introduction of administrative punishment for this: up to 15 days of arrest or a fine for citizens, and suspension of work or a fine of RUB 100,000 to RUB 1 million for legal entities.
