Saab 340 Supply Boosts Ukrainian Air Defense Capability — aviation expert
Aviation expert, leading researcher at the State Aviation Museum Valeriy Romanenko notes the Saab 340 radar surveillance aircraft will radically change the situation in the air
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“These are two royal gifts. Because for us it means reaching a fundamentally new level, both the level of Ukrainian air defense and the level of trust in us. Because until now, we have been provided with many samples of weapons, but we have not yet received the most expensive and sophisticated means of combat, such as a radar inspection aircraft. What kind of aircraft is this - it is a machine that will radically change the situation in the air,” emphasized Romanenko.
According to the aviation expert, receiving radar surveillance aircraft gives us parity with the Russians.
“If the Russians used flying radars and looked deep into Ukrainian territory, and could control the actions of their aviation and air defense systems from these aircraft. Now we have this capability, and it is no worse than the Russians'. With the receipt of F-16 fighters, and they will work in pairs, the capabilities of our air defense will increase in terms of aerodynamic targets, helicopters, cruise missiles, and shaheds. We will be able to shoot down more than 95% of targets,” Romanenko said.
- Sweden has presented the sixteenth and so far the largest aid package to Ukraine, worth €1.16 billion, including aircraft, armored vehicles, ammunition, and tanks.
- Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that Sweden sends Ukraine two radar surveillance aircraft to enable F-16s to better see enemy warplanes.
- Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, noted that the moment when F-16s will appear in Ukraine is so close that you can already hear the roar of the engines.
