The Swedish government's website reports.

In particular, they noted that Sweden is providing Ukraine with “a completely new capability that strengthens Ukraine's unified air defense.”

The aid package includes ASC 890 aircraft with radar reconnaissance and guidance capabilities.

“ASC 890 provides Ukraine with a completely new capability for radar reconnaissance and combat target control in the air and at sea. Ukraine's ability to detect and engage long-range targets is being strengthened. The aircraft has a comprehensive solution that includes training, technical equipment and methodological support for radar reconnaissance and air combat management,” the Swedish government said.

To further strengthen Ukraine's air defense, the aid package also includes the Rb 99 (AMRAAM) robotic fighter aircraft, which can be used both on aircraft and in ground-based air defense systems. The robots are being modified for ground-based air defense systems.

Sweden will also provide Ukraine with 155 mm artillery shells.

The new assistance package includes the entire Swedish stockpile of Pansarbandvagn 302, Pbv 302 armored vehicles, including spare parts, technical equipment and ammunition.

The 16th military support package also includes: tanks that are surplus to requirements in the Swedish Armed Forces; maintenance solutions for previously donated Swedish equipment; financial support for funds and temporary initiatives for rapid and large-scale procurement of equipment for Ukraine.

Also, as part of the aid package, the Institute for Total Defense Studies is tasked with supporting Ukraine in establishing its own defense research institute.

Sweden will also provide terminals with satellite communications subscriptions.

“Ukraine's needs are still significant, and Russia is now putting pressure on Ukraine on several fronts. Russia is stepping up its air strikes against both military and civilian targets. That is why the government is helping Ukraine with another record military support package. Swedish support helps to strengthen the collective Ukrainian military capabilities,” the statement said.

  • On May 24, Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It includes tanks, armored vehicles, bridge builders, trucks, drones, and ammunition.
